but it got a bit slow and laggy to one point when i got a few bits on there

Yeah, the more you put on screen, naturally, the slower the Flash Player is going to be able to react. plus they're all vector graphics, with quite a bit of detail to them, all at pretty hefty sizes. So yeah... sorry about that, but it is hard to avoid.
